These are some ways to teach children to become successful writers:
-
DEVELOP A HABIT FOR THEM TO READ BOOKS AND COMICS
Encourage kids to read as much as possible. Start them with graphic novels and short children’s stories. The more they read the more their mind and imagination will expand and they will be able to express themselves better. Expose them to books like the Harry Potters Series, The Lord of the rings and chicken soup series. This way they will stay engaged and interested in the stories and there imagination will know no bounds
-
HELP THEM USE THEIR IMAGINATION
Make the children paint, dance and express themselves. Help them with puppetry and let them try their hands on storytelling. This way they will become more confident and they will use their imagination to express themselves.
-
DON’T JUDGE THEM-GUIDE THEM
Children need nurturance and support and thus you should not judge them, instead, you should guide and encourage them and thus the best way for them to learn is to be encouraged, guided and supported so that they blossom, bloom and flower.
-
MAKE THEM WATCH EDUCATIONAL FILMS
It is also a good idea to make children watch educational and good cartoon films and then write down the stories of whatever they watched. Movies by Disney and FOX can help ignite the passion for storytelling in children and make them more expressive and confident about their communication and writing skills.
-
HELP THEM WRITE SHORT STORIES
To begin with, children should be encouraged to write short stories and then they can write poetry and prose. The more they write the better they will become and the more confident they will become of themselves and their expression skills.
-
HELP THEM KEEP A DAILY DIARY
Encourage children to keep a daily diary and jot down all the happenings of the day in it. This will help them introspect and develop themselves at the same time, this will help them in becoming better writers.
Thus by using these tools and techniques you can encourage children to read and write and finally carve a niche for themselves and become great writers when they grow up.
